Ashton Playing Fields 

Ashton Playing Fields has a wide spectrum of facilities which cater for diverse and varied customer use.

Outdoor facilities we provide include an 8 lane fully equipped athletic track and field, a full size floodlit astroturf pitch and 3 grass football pitches. Also on offer are a well equipped gym, pilates classes and a function hall and meeting room for hire.

Athletic Track & Field

There is a competition specification hammer, two long jump/triple jump pits and javelin and shot put areas. There is also High Jump and Pole Vault facilities

Ideal for school sports days or club competitions, we also provide competition standard pole vault, high jump and hurdles.

The athletics track and field facilities are used regularly by Woodford Green Athletic Club with Essex Ladies. Woodford Green Athletic Club train every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.15pm - 7.15pm. Ages 11 and up and any standard may come along. Learn all events including sprints, hurdles, throwing, jumping and middle distance running. Give it a go!

Season Tickets

One of our unique features is that we offer you the opportunity to 'Pay & Play'. However, if you are training regularly you can save money with an Ashton Playing Fields Season Ticket. The Season Ticket gives unlimited use all year round, or you can just turn up and pay when you want to use the track. A joint track and gym membership is also now available. For more information please ask at Reception.
Astro Turf Pitch

Our full sized fully floodlit all weather astro turf pitch can offer an 11-aside full pitch or 6-a-side half pitches. We have a number of local adult and children's teams that train on our astroturf, as well as specialist coaching clubs such as Ilford Colts.

The pitch can be hired out on a seasonal or casual basis. All our goals have nets provided. Football For Fun coaching sessions run every Wednesday by qualified coaches for boys and girls aged 6-11 years. Matt Tallon's soccer stars train on Wednesdays for children aged 5-9 years at 6pm and 10-14 years at 7pm


Football Parties

Football parties are now on offer with an hour on the astroturf with a qualified coach to play matches and learn skills and then an hour in the hall where you can eat and play party games.

Grass pitches


Our grass pitches can be booked on a seasonal, weekly, or casual basis.

They are available throughout the year and are ideal for a team looking for a home ground as changing rooms are provided.
Gym & FitVision


Offering cardio-vascular and resistance equipment, including treadmills, exercise bikes and cross trainers, Ashton Playing Fields gym is a great place to get or keep fit.

At Ashton Gym there is:

Fitness Classes

We offer Pilates on a Sunday morning, so why not come and relax.

Function Hall

Capable of holding 120 people and available until 11.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays the function hall is perfect for any event including birthdays, christenings, weddings and anniversaries. With kitchen facilities and tables and chairs provided, the friendly staff will make sure the big event goes off without a hitch.

The hall is also great for children's parties on Saturday and Sunday afternoons where almost any activity is welcome. Recent parties have incuded roller discos and fancy dress. The hall is hired out on weekday evenings by different organisations but there are still some available slots for regular or casual use.

Meeting Room

Available all day everyday, our meeting room is great for coffee mornings, tutorials or meetings. Holding up to 15 people a fantastic atmosphere can be generated.

Resident After School Club

Bridge Children's Services has been at Ashton Playing Fields since it was established in 1998. Offering a huge range of activities, Bridge has an after school club in term time and runs a holiday club all day throughout the school holidays. In term time, Bridge is open from 3pm - 6.30pm and in holidays from 8.30pm - 6.30pm

Resident Kindergarten

Established for over 50 years Greenways Kindergarten, for children aged 2 - 5 has a fabulous reputation. Opening hours Mondays to Friday 8.45am - 1.30am, For more details call 020 8505 6987.
