The majority of sessions run all year round, do not require membership, and you can join at any time. We can offer lots of free and inexpensive ways to stay active, so what are you waiting for!

A wide variety of physical activities are available for all residents in Redbridge, including free health walks, outdoor gyms, running, tennis coaching and weekly pay as you go sessions, please see the below for further information and a weekly timetable with further details about what is on offer across the borough.

weekly leisure activities including badminton, keep fit, short-mat bowls, zumba, yoga and many more activities to choose from.

Last Man Stands Cricket is a quick, exciting and rule bending version of Twenty20 played by time-strapped cricketers all over the world. Last Man Stands runs at Hainault Recreation Ground on weekday evenings in the summer.

Young People (Under 19)

Active Young People – weekly fun activities for young people, including handball, athletics, cricket, weightlifting, running and tennis.


Walking is a great way of keeping fit. Not only does it improve your fitness levels, but it also provides numerous other health benefits including:

  • physical fitness
  • weight loss
  • healthy heart
  • disease prevention
  • general well-being

The Redbridge Walk to Health programme is a set of weekly walks in various parks across the Borough. Everyone is welcome to join the walks, regardless of current fitness levels, and what’s more, they’re a great way of making new friends!

The walks are free and are led by trained and committed walk leaders who are also fully qualified First Aiders. For a walk programme please ring 020 8708 0954.

Would you like to become a Walk Leader?

If you are interested in becoming a Walk Leader, please contact the Sport & Health Team and we will inform you of when the next course is taking place.  The courses generally consist of two days; day 1 of the course involves practice in leading a walk and information on keeping people motivated.  Day 2 covers the first aid issues that may arise during a walk.  The course is free for those who wish to be a walk leader volunteer (minimum 1 walk per week) or £60 per person.

Tennis in the Parks

We have a number of ways for you to get on court and enjoy the great British summertime, why not dust off that racquet and make the most of the smashing opportunities.

6 week coaching courses are running throughout the summer in different parks across Redbridge.

We run weekly Tennis For Free sessions starting on Saturday 5th July between 1pm and 3pm.

Redbridge Tennis League

About us:  This is a friendly, mixed sex singles league for adults (18 years +) of all standards. Everyone is welcome. It's designed to offer an easy way to play   competitive matches on courts near you. Players are graded into groups and arrange their own matches at a time to suit. You can play anywhere that suits you both, including the courts at Valentine's Park, Ray Park, Goodmayes Park and the Redbridge Tennis Centre.
