Sky ride came to Redbridge Sunday 15th August The sun shone and the people of Redbridge were out in their numbers to enjoy the first "Sky ride£ in Redbridge. A number of roads were closed throughout the borough so that local people could get on their bikes and enjoy cycling all, or part of, the 13 km route.

There was a big community spirit on the day and I think local residents really appreciated the opportunity to participate in the event on traffic free road
Entertainment and stalls were available for cyclists and spectators to enjoy at the Vision centres with Redbridge Cycling Centre hosting the start and finish of the route and Fullwell Cross Leisure Centre hosting a "ride and recovery" at the half way point.
Keith Newton, Chief Executive of Vision commented
The Skyride in Redbridge was hugely successful and proved very popular with cyclists from far and wide and with local residents. There was a fantastic community spirit about the whole day with cyclists and spectators able to participate in a range of activities at Redbridge Cycling Centre and Fullwell Cross Leisure Centre alongside the enjoyment of cycling on traffic free roads. It was really good to see this event come to Redbridge and a great opportunity to promote the borough and the excellent leisure facilities and services on offer.

QUEST re:assessments took place at Ashton Playing Fields, Wanstead and Fullwell Cross Leisure Centres during October/November 2009. All the facilities improved on their 2007 results with Fullwell Cross attaining a 'Highly Commended" QUEST Award. |
